B ay° Artist Residency at JZ
B ay °, a gallery with a mission of fostering connections for artists, opened its doors in February and teamed up with Juliet Zulu to provide a space for a resident artist to create work for an opening in March. Juliet Zulu was honored to host Kevin McNamee-Tweed, the 2017 B ay ° Artist in Residence during that time.
The residency program built by B ay ° Curator, Annie McLaughlin, and Sarah Simmons, Art Director for Juliet Zulu and B ay ° Director, was launched to be a process based program letting an artist create work for one month next door to the gallery in which the work will be shown. This allowed for connections to be made between the artist and the environment in which the work would live.
A portion of Juliet Zulu's studio space was turned into a bright haven where Kevin was able to set up work tables, supplies, tools, and his various mediums to work day or night for 30 days.
Kevin's show The End opened in B ay ° on March 3 and had work spanning the entire studio garage where he spent his time working, as well as a full exhibition in B ay ° space.
